Story of Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga
According to Hindu mythology, the demon Dushana had attacked the earth with his unrighteousness and was wreaking havoc on the world. The gods and sages, unable to stop him, prayed to Lord Shiva for protection. Mahakaleshwar appeared in Ujjain in his most powerful form and annihilated Dushana. The name 'Mahakaleshwar' translates to 'The Great God of Time,' and the temple is said to govern time itself. The legend symbolizes Lord Shiva's control over the forces of nature and time, emphasizing the victory of righteousness over evil.
